From Nong Mawe (Rev. Manuel de la Fuente, CPUR President 1984-85)

Manuel de la Fuente: hi again Jonan. thank you for sharing the video. congratulations on this ministry (the charging station). just a few comments about "reviving the Student Center." at times the university security officer would give a report about students who have vices. the plan is to apprehend these students who are doing wrong. to catch them in the act seemed to be the idea and then expel them. my argument was that this is not redemptive and does not reflect the Christian way or ideal. instead of this condemning action or plan, why not a proactive program for the students to do right. why not give them alternatives like re-opening the student center for wholesome recreation. i shared with them my own testimony that while in high school the center was a venue for me for wholesome recreation. it took awhile for us -the CPUR-to succeed. we were about to mobilize the students, supportive faculty and staff and the parents for a picket and boycott. it was a popular idea (very well supported) to ask the university to reopen the center. the university president, Dr. Pulido got notice about the move and called for a dialogue. i brought as many CPU officials as i can to the dialogue and the President surrounded with other university staff right there and then gave the decision to re-open the student center. i had to ask for a specific date, and he did. to my knowledge it was never closed again since that time. we had a reopening program or dedication. we aptly thanked Dr. Pulido for his action. Manoy Rudy (Pastor Rodolfor Acosta) was one of those who congratulated me in pursuing the noble endeavor. he told me, that leading the struggle for reopening the student center is practically putting the saying "enter to worship, depart to serve" in action. he said that as my pastor, he was proud that i did that.
